Cadillac could possibly make the Ciel more than a concept

It’s that time in a concept’s life again. Shortly after Cadillac unveiled the Ciel Concept the rumors and possibilities started showing up.
Rumors, and on some accounts, even some inside sources claim that General Motors is very interested in making the Ciel a true production car, not just a concept.

That way, the Cadillac Ciel could end up becoming a new flagship for the company along with another set of “possibles” in the form of more hybrids throughout the lineup.

If it is to happen, the production spec Cadillac Ciel will be using the parent company’s enormous Omega platform for underpinnings.

This platform, in turn, is based loosely on the Zeta architecture GM has been using without without too much success over the years with the most notable loss being Pontiac’s G8.
A brand new Ciel is likely to attract more customers than a hot re-branded Australian vehicle, especially considering that if it gets pinned as the flagship of a newly imaged Cadillac it’s likely not to be half-arsed in any aspect.

Pumping out the full ambitions, the new Cadillac Ciel could land in around 2015 on the market and if done properly, it will end up having only one serious competitor, that being the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead.
It sounds like a very nice dream, it is relatively far away, but I think that at this point not only I, but Cadillac as well, think it’s possible.
