The Scottsdale Auction has always been one of those great money pullers. This edition of Scottsdale Auction Week has just managed to set a record for having pulled off the highest amount of sales this year. The final figure for the event was found out to be a staggering $14.2 million. The sales featured many varieties of cars including the ‘Old is Gold’ ones as well as some newbie’s. Some were sold at an unexpectedly low set of prices while some reached the sky.
The President and founder of this event, Mr. David Gooding stated that the success of this edition of Scottsdale was simply amazing and that it brought much glory to the valley. He added that the most successful part of it was pulling off a sale of $14 Million along with a record crowd attendance this year as well. Th last day of the event turned out to be special in that all the collectors and enthusiasts alike made a presentation with cars such as the 1948 Tucker model and the Fiat 8V Supersonic model.
Speaking of vintage cars it was a great event for these vehicles with many of the original and quite mentionable cars from the decades of 1950s and 60s going on sale. A 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gull Wing fetched an amazing amount of $858,000. A 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB also found its name on the sold list being bought for an amount of $797,500. An original model of 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra also went on sale and was finally sold for $610,500.

But we do think that the mentionable part of the auction was the sale of a 2006 Ferrari FXX Evoluzione. Boy did the buyers go one on one for this car pulling out every penny from their budget! As mentioned some cars went for unexpectedly low prices but some touched the sky. This has to be the one reaching high limits being shelled out for an amazing $2.09 million. This is one of the only 30 models of FXX produced by the company. The Italian Manufacturers have always spoken highly of this production version model tipped as one of the very best of all times. The car being 1 in only 30 is a rare one too. The model is based on a 6262 cc V12 engine, which can deliver an impressive power output of 860 hp at rotation rates of 9500 rpm. The car can step it up with a sprint of 60 mph from rest in a mere matter of 2.7 seconds. The speedometer reads a maximum reading of 249 mph. For a 2006 car that is quite impressive. Being a car from Ferrari with all these stats we are not surprised that it fetched so much.
